BILL FRISELL TRIO feat. Thomas Morgan and Rudy Royston

The first performance of one of the most important American guitarists at Kino Šiška and his first concert with his trio in Ljubljana since his appearance at the Ljubljana Jazz Festival in Križanke in 1996 (since then, he has performed in Ljubljana in projects with Vinicius Cantuária and Mary Halvorson).

Frisell’s professional beginnings date back to the 1980s when he started collaborating with ECM Records and especially with drummer Paul Motian (this was also when he first visited Ljubljana). At the same time, he worked with John Zorn and was a member of the legendary Naked City. He has released numerous albums with various projects and, after multiple nominations, won a Grammy for Unspeakable. This year, he is nominated for two more Grammys, including Best Instrumental Jazz Album for his multi-layered work Orchestras, featuring his longtime concert and recording collaborators Thomas Morgan and Rudy Royston.

The last album they recorded as a trio, Valentine (Blue Note), was released in 2020. This trio is musically agile enough to follow Frisell anywhere in the most spontaneous way.
