Klapa Semikanta comes from Slovenian Istria, bringing the Dalmatian musical tradition to life with their unique Istrian voices. Since 2011, they have been making music together, sharing both their performances and the moments before and after them. On stage, they create an unforgettable atmosphere, performing Dalmatian classics, Slovenian adaptations, and original songs that celebrate their homeland, Istria—a place that offers them both inspiration and a sense of belonging.
To mark their 10th anniversary, they released an album compiling all their greatest hits.
Recently, they gained recognition with their song Šavrinka. The Šavrinka was a woman from Slovenian Istria who, from the late 19th century until the end of World War II, carried eggs from the Istrian interior to Trieste. This trade was primarily undertaken by women from the southeastern hinterlands of present-day Slovenian Littoral. They transported their goods on foot or with the help of donkeys, which allowed them to carry larger quantities of eggs. At certain times, egg trading was a crucial source of income for these women.
