The ballet, which is thematically based on the novel “Zorba the Greek” by Nikos Kazantzakis and draws upon the genre of classical narrative ballet, remains extremely popular to this day. One of the reasons for its enduring popularity is the captivating and invigorating Greek musical tapestry woven with rhythms and melodies by the composer Mikis Theodorakis, who significantly contributed to the worldwide popularization of the Sirtaki dance. After twenty years since its first performance in Maribor, the ballet story returns to the dance stages of Maribor, bringing with it unique lessons of life and love from the shores of Crete. This time, it arrives with an entirely new dance dynamic and an updated choreography by the legendary Lorca Massine.
