Nika Zorjan

Description

Nika Zorjan is a Slovenian singer of party music. She was born on 03 December 1992 in Murska Sobota. She grew up in a musical family - her father, Janez Zorjan, was a member of the band Nova Legija, with which Nika made her first stage appearance at the age of two and a half, and now her father is the bass player in Nika's backing band.

Nika received her formal musical education at the Music School Murska Sobota, where she learned to play the piano. She is a graduate teacher of classroom education and currently teaches singing in POPSING music workshops.

She was first introduced to the wider public in 2010, where she performed in the first season of Slovenia's Got Talent. A year later, she took part in another talent search show - Mission Eurovision, the selection for the Slovenian representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku. This time she managed to make it all the way to the final, but was eliminated, narrowly missing out on the 2012 EMAs.

After the end of the Eurovision Song Contest, she was taken under the wing of author and music producer Raay, with whom she still works today. Her very first song "Čas za nas", released in 2012, became a big hit, being the second most played song in Slovenia in 2012.

Nika has taken part in many festivals, her first appearance at the Melodies of the Sea and the Sun festival in 2013 with the song "Nasmeh življenja", winning the telephone vote. The song was also one of the most played songs in 2013 and 2014 on Slovenian radio. The following year, she took part in the Eurovision Song Contest in Denmark as a backing vocalist for Tinkare Kovač. In 2015, Nika performed again at Eurovision as a backing vocalist, this time for the duo Maraaya, who represented Slovenia in Vienna.
