Plečnik's water axis of the city, including the banks of the Ljubljanica River and the bridges fr om Trnovo Pier to the sluices, is one of the six components of the comprehensive architectural and urbanistic design inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. During the tour, which will start in front of Plečnik's House and end at the Triple Bridge, the curator will present the most recognizable, aesthetically and functionally imaginative arrangements of the embankments and bridges that decisively define the appearance of Plečnik's Ljubljana.
"Within a relatively short period of 15 years, Plečnik arranged the embankments of the Gradaščica and Ljubljanica rivers, along with the stairs and bridges beside them. He designed the riverfront to be human-scaled, opening new views and pathways towards the water, making it today the most pleasant and most visited part of the city wh ere everyone likes to linger. This was probably the architect's wish," says Porok about Plečnik's water routes.
